Freeskiing - Wendy Fisher | KINeSYS

Wendy Fisher
Professional Freeskier

It is hard to know whether Wendy Fisher's parents could have guessed, when they put their 2-year-old daughter on skis, that she would reach the level of professional acclaim that she now holds. As a youth north of Lake Tahoe, Wendy cultivated her talent and skills to make it onto the U.S. Ski Team in 1987. During her 7-year tour with the Team, Wendy demonstrated her versatility and superiority, scoring World Cup points in all alpine disciplines and earning herself a spot as a Member of the 1992 U.S. Olympic Team.

Ever the risk-taker, Wendy left the U.S. national team in 1994 to venture into the world of freeskiing. Her crack at extreme skiing was more than she could have hoped for, as she won the World Extreme Skiing Championship in both 1996 and 1997, making her the first back-to-back WESC champion. Her gold medal at the World Cup of Extreme Free Skiing in 1998 further cemented her title as one of the best freeskiers in the world.

As one of today's most versatile and successful skiers, Wendy has been captured on film, television and in magazines doing what she does best - taking risks. Over the past few years, besides competing in both the Gravity Games and X-Games, she has appeared in over 13 extreme skiing movies, working with Matchstick Productions and Warren Miller, on numerous television programs, including NBC Dateline, the Discovery Channel and ESPN, and in countless magazines, including Skiing, Time and Warren Miller's Ski World. She was voted by Skiing Magazine as one of the "Best 25 Skiers in North America", by Ski Magazine as one of the "Worlds Sexiest Skiers" and awarded "Best Female Film Segment" by Powder Magazine. Showing she is not just a favorite of the media, she took 1st place in both the 2002 and 2003 "Powder Magazines - Reader Poll Awards" and became the spokesperson for Colorado Ski Country's 5th Grade Passport Program for 2001, 2002 and 2003.

Which has led her to where she is today - passing on the knowledge and love of the sport that has provided her with so much experience and recognition. Her progressive FishSki Girls Ski Camps and Womens Ski Clinics offer a chance for females of all ages to explore and expand their freeskiing abilities under the tutelage of the best in the industry. FishSki Guided Trips for men and women group participants with top professional freeskiing champions for personalized instruction.

So how does KINeSYS factor into the life of a winter athlete? Seamlessly, if we do say so ourselves. Wendy knows that even on a cloudy day, up to 85% of the sun's rays can be reflected off of ice or snow, making burns just as likely during winter activities. And like any professional athlete, Wendy expects performance - which makes KINeSYS Performance Sunscreen a natural choice, whether she is on the mountain or even on the days when she takes time to relax. Are water skiing, mountain biking, tennis and running considered relaxing?
